This policy explains what Reel Afrika collects when you visit reelafrika.com, who else receives it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website. Our mobile apps will carry their own policy when they ship.
What we collect
Your email address, but only if you type it into the waitlist form. Nothing on this site requires an account, and we do not ask for your name, payment details, or date of birth.
How you use the page. We run analytics that record pages viewed, buttons clicked, and how you move through the site. This includes session recording, which captures your interactions with the page as a replayable session. Your IP address and browser details are collected as part of this and in ordinary server logs.
Why we collect it

To email you once, when Reel Afrika launches, if you joined the waitlist.

To understand which parts of the site people actually use, so we can improve it.

To keep the site running and diagnose faults.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share your email address with anyone outside the providers listed below.
Who else receives it
These providers process data on our behalf. Several are located outside your country, which means your data may be transferred internationally.

Mixpanel — Product analytics and session recording. Configured with autocapture and session recording enabled for all visitors, which captures pages viewed, clicks, and interaction with the page. Processed in: United States.

Contentsquare — Behavioural analytics — how visitors move through and interact with pages. Processed in: United States / European Union.

Google Cloud Functions (Firebase) — Receives your email address when you join the waitlist, and serves series artwork and metadata. Processed in: United States (us-central1).

Vercel and Cloudflare — Website hosting and content delivery. Processes request logs including IP address. Processed in: Global edge network.
Cookies and similar technology
Our analytics providers set cookies and use browser storage to recognise a returning visit and to stitch a session together. You can block or clear these in your browser settings; the site will still work.
How long we keep it
Waitlist email addresses are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until we launch and you tell us you no longer want to hear from us. Analytics data is kept according to each provider's own retention settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold on you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it. To exercise any of these, email

Children
Reel Afrika is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us their email address, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting people on the waitlist will be sent by email.
