What a micro-drama script is
A micro-drama (vertical short drama) is a story told in 1–3 minute episodes, shot 9:16 for the phone, and binged in long runs of 40–100+ episodes. It is not a feature cut into pieces — it is written to a shape: a hook in the first seconds, a turn every ninety seconds, and a reason to tap "next" at the end of every episode.
The structure that works
•
Hook first — open on a question, reveal or conflict, never on setup.
•
One beat per episode — about 60–90 seconds, turning on a single moment.
•
A cliffhanger at the end of every episode: a question the next one answers.
•
Escalation across the season — stakes rise, the midpoint reverses, the comeback lands.
•
Clear, high-contrast emotions: betrayal, humiliation, reveal, triumph.
What we are looking for
Reel Afrika makes African-original micro-dramas — inheritance and family secrets, village and city, marriages of convenience, returning heirs, love that crosses class lines. If you can write that world to the format above, we want to read it.
